Zahir is a new OC that I just needs to calm down about sheikah. What a dork. I call her the traditional sheikah fangirl for short. She is extremely interested in traditional sheikah. Being so interested in them, she doesn't care if they're higher ups or just messengers. They all have information for her to obsess over.

Goal: To be able to deal with her anxieties better and appear as a normal person around others that aren't close friends. Also learning more about traditional sheikah. Currently wondering if she can learn more about octoroks.
Other: Is extremely obsessive about traditional sheikah culture and battle tactics. Often embarrasses herself. Is extremely respectful of others though can also be overwhelmed easily. Loves to learn. Can talk to others but has a tic (usually playing with hands/fingers or squeezing her pet) and often starts to feel terrible about talking before apologizing or leaving.

Pet: Noots the Octorok - A baby octorok who became far too attached to Zahir. He likes to complain when she's not holding him or giving him attention. Overall he tends to be squeezed when she's too anxious.
History:
Zahir was born into a small family that wasn't at its best. Her common sheikah family tried to keep traditional sheikah values and often celebrated its culture. Hower the culture they knew was either wrong or outdated. This left the family rather bad off financially but somehow able to indulge in itself. It was clear at a young age that Zahir was meant to carry on their bloodline and these traditions. Stories were told to her by her grandmother before her passing and even by her human father. She loved them, not understanding how misinformed she was becoming. These stories made her somewhat of an outcast to the other children and often made her feel bad. The only time she truly felt brave was when her father was around.
After the news of a younger sibling came, Zahir became excited to actually share the stories herself. She spent a lot of time with both parents trying to figure out what ones were the best and what ones her father could help with. Due to unfortunate circumstances, her brother was stillborn. All Zahir really remembers of that time is a lot of yelling between parents and shortly after, her father spending the day with her before never seeing him again. With him out of her life, she became very withdrawn to her books and started to indulge in her misinformed history. Her mother also paid for "sheikah" fighting technique training to help her get out of the house more given she was unable to use any sort of magic unlike her mother. These years of training put the broken family into major debt due to the tutor's claim of being a traditional sheikah.
It took Zahir four years before this training was complete. For some time it was one of the few things she looked forward to beyond pestering the traditional sheikah guards of Kakariko. Her hand to hand combat skills were halfway decent and she did gain some strength despite how she looked. At first she tried to keep on improving her skills but overall found that no on in the village really cared. The traditional sheikah took care of major problems and it felt like others still judged her. Kids her age often pointed out how she played with her hands and rambled on, something she quickly started to feel terrible about. Soon enough the debt also started to show its face. It wasn't something that was going to magically go away.
A few years passed before her mother suggested she start to work somewhere. Unbeknownst to Zahir, her mother lined up a chance for a job at Lon Lon Ranch. As much as she realized she did owe her mother something, it wasn't a job she had any drive to want to do. Working at a library or something sounded better. Her mother insisted however that some physical labor would also mean a chance to use what she learned. She halfheartedly started work at the ranch after pleading for a job. This sudden dive into dealing with animal droppings, animal care, and overall physical work wasn't extremely terrible. She was learning something but she could see how she wasn't as good as others. Not to mention actually having to interact with others often made her run off. At times she was found crying in an animal's stall or just avoiding doing her work. The only person she befriended -Ellise- stood up for her when necessary as she saw Zahir was trying. She was thankful for that but really felt like a burden. Thankfully Ellise didn't see it that way and gave Zahir someone to actually talk to. Plus being able to go home from time to time really helped. Her continuing bothering of the traditional sheikah gave her some relief, especially since one started to feel like he paid more attention than the others.
Now that she has had a chance to be away from home, Zahir has realized how misinformed her family is on many things. Her love for her heritage still exists and she hopes that she can perhaps set some items straight. However her confidence still needs works. Those she has met on the ranch have given her hope that perhaps she can be just fine around others.
Current History:
After discovering a very injured Talin and helping him back to the ranch to recover, Zahir somehow found herself wondering if she could help Hyrule. Though she now feels guilty for bothering him so much while he was injured, Zahir can't help but want to thank Talin for the influence he's been on her. She followed in the desire to wanting to help Hyrule shortly after he left. Hearing how there were people actually grouping up gave her courage to try to join. Meeting them was a mistake though. Link was someone she admired yet was afraid of given how he could be at times around her. She didn't think him terrible but also wanted to help him. Overall her group experience hasn't been the best but she wants to help everyone get to a more positive place.
Somewhere along the lines she ended up separated from the group and in a tavern. There she heard a monster crying. For whatever reason, she actually felt sorry for the baby octorok. Stealing the creature and running off into the night, she adopted the monster and named him Noots. It took quite a while and quite some time to figure out what she wanted to do with him while she searched for the others. When the group really didn't say much about it, her hope rose that perhaps she was finding her place. Things took quite a dive however after they visited a tear. Once again she was at a loss on what she truly belonged doing and decided to venture off. When hearing there was a resistance being set up, Zahir hoped that perhaps her true talents would shine there. This felt like a mistake as her skills as a ranch hand landed her in an animal caretaker position.
For now Zahir is traveling with the group, just rejoining the efforts. She's not satisfied with feeling useless and is terrified of what may happen given everyone's current state.
Other:
- No one knows exactly how long Zahir's family has been outside of the clan. It is just known that they try to follow the traditional sheikah way of only marrying another sheikah. This of course has failed given Zahir's father is a human.
- The books and stories she has read growing up are extremely misinformed to the point that some of the things she thinks she knows just make no sense. She is learning this as she goes but still has a lot of information to collect. She also hopes to learn as much as she can before having to return to her family.
